For those wanting best of the best you have found it. When speaking to anyone in our office if you are looking for a desk phone and computer headset you can be sure the name Sennheiser will be mentioned.
This is simply because they have packed so many features into one amazing headset. The result is an all around great quality, sounding and comfortable headset. We can start with the design of the headset. The Sennheiser DW Pro 1 wireless headset comes with the large leatherette ear cushions for superior comfort. The lightweight design means you don’t end up with pressure points or a sore head after wearing the headset all day long. It has a rotatable microphone boom so if using the DW Pro 1 (single sided or mono headset) you can switch between which side you would like the ear cushion on. The DW Pro 2 works in the same way to allow the microphone boom to be worn on either side. The headset itself like most wireless headsets also has the volume controls and mute right on the ear piece.
The microphone has been fitted with Sennheiser’s ultra noise cancelling microphone, this ensures that even in the noisiest office the person you are speaking with will only be hearing your voice and not your colleagues or any music you may have playing in the background.
The DW Pro series allows you to choose between narrowband and wideband audio – this can also help to increase your talk time on the headset. When in narrowband mode you have up to a massive 12 hours talk time. When in wideband you have an 8 hour talk time. The Sennheiser DWPro 1 and 2 also come with Sennheiser’s rapid battery charge feature, so if you forget to charge your headset overnight, in just 20 minutes you have 50% of your battery back and in 1 hour you are back to 100%. Other headsets take a whole hour or more for 30-50% battery.
Again as with all wireless headsets Sennheiser have a fantastic range of EHS cables and their very own HSL10 lifter giving you the ability to answer calls away from your desk. This lifter also recognises different ring tones; You can program it to recognise 2 ring tones and give a different alert tone to you. So if you have an internal and external ring tone or if you have different names or branches of your company, you can answer the phone accordingly even when you can’t see the th phone. The Sennheiser DW Pro 1 wireless headset also offers the largest wireless range on a headset of any of the headset brands with a massive 180m.
The Pro 2 gives the user the added benefit of a second ear piece (binaural – meaning it covers both ears) which helps to block out noise for the user as well as being paired with the noise cancelling mic means a great sound no matter which end of the call you are on.
When in use with a computer the ultra noise cancelling can also be noticed, especially when using dictation software – what this means is because the mic is focusing on your voice rather than what’s going on around you there will be less errors. Obviously the better the headset the better the results!
For those working on a budget, or only needing to connect to the one device rather than both these headsets also come in phone only or pc only versions. However choose carefully, if you think you may want to connect to the other device in the future get the full version as it is not just as simple as adding an additional cable on to get the second device connection at a later date.
The one down side to the Sennheiser wireless headsets is that they do not have connectivity to mobile devices but for those who only need superior sound for desk phone and computers there is nothing that we would recommend over these. They are quite simply best of the best!
