The Pro 1 wireless headset is probably one of the best on the market. It offers the longest talk time at 12 hours and an incredible 180 metre wireless range. It’s comfortable, sleek, modern design looks like something out of the pages of Vogue but it has the pedigree to back up these good looks.
The Sennhsier Pro 1, which you can find here, is without doubt not only one of the best over the head models you can buy but also one of the best looking. Maybe the Jabra 9470, available here, comes close but that’s because we love the uber cool colour touch screen.
Sennheiser has a background in sound engineering and the quality of the DW Pro 1 is testament to that. It gives you ULTRA noise cancelling as default, which is very unusual in wireless headsets. All other manufacturers only provide standard noise cancelling which is good, but not even close to the background noise suppression achieved by Sennheiser. In fact, all their DW Pro 1 and DW Pro 2 variants come with this.
It’s quite surprising other brands like Plantronics and Jabra don’t also offer this. They seem content to offer it with premium model corded headsets. Given the incredible proliferation of wireless headsets as the price points have come down we simply can’t understand why in a typical busy office with wireless headsets you wouldn’t offer this feature. Wireless headsets are even replacing corded models in call centres because they are so cheap now.
So the Sennheiser DW Pro 1 cordless headset gives you looks, the longest range, the best talk time, the ability to connect to your PC as well as your desk phone and so much more. If money wasn’t an issue these would sell multiples of almost every other headset on the market today. The truth may be you get what you pay for, but some people just don’t do the maths properly and settle with inferior cordless headsets instead. The maths is this simple – you use a headset every day and they last for years. If the DW Pro 1 was only $60 more expensive doesn’t it make sense to pay it? We sure think so.
So apart from all the bells and whistles there’s one item we’ve neglected to mention – the SOUND. It is truly amazing. This is thanks to the high end sound background of Sennheiser as a company. They’ve translated this technology to deliver arguably the best, most natural premium sound you can imagine.
There’s two drawbacks that stop this from being the best headset ever. Firstly, it won’t connect to mobile phones. For the majority of customers at this level it’s a moot point. The second is the price point. To counteract that they’ve also released the Sennheiser DW Pro 1 (PH) wireless headset. This model is identical in every way but only works with your desk phone – which are the most popular headset variety anyway. That pushes this variant sub $300 and makes it a winner.
If you’re serious about a quality wireless headset with premium sound then you’d have to have a very good reason not to get the Sennheiser DW Pro 1 cordless headset.
